Membership in the Society for Socialist Studies runs annually from January 1 to December 31. We offer a special $10 rate to student, retired, low income and unemployed members, and just $40 for full members.
We also have “supporter” and “sponsor” categories for those able to provide greater financial support. All members are full members of the Society for Socialist Studies. This means they are welcome and encouraged to participate in the life of Society.
Your support is critical to maintaining the Society and the Journal, as vital and vibrant contributors to the Left in Canada and beyond.

We particularly need support for our Ryerson Travel Fund which assists low-income and precariously employed delegates in attending Congress. The Ryerson Travel Fund was established in memory of Mildred and Stanley Ryerson. Stanley Bréhaut Ryerson was a multi-disciplinary Marxist intellectual, first with the Communist Party of Canada and then with the Department of History at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Mildred Ryerson, who received the Order of Canada in 1997, was an organizer and community-engaged occupational therapist. Since the cancellation of the SSHRC travel grant program, the Ryerson Travel Fund is now our primary source of support for Congress travel grants. Your support is greatly appreciated!
50 for 50
2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Society for Socialist Studies. From an era marked by the Civil Rights and anti-Vietnam war movements, to the current era marked by Climate Justice, Black Lives Matter and Idle No More, we have worked to build a society dedicated to keeping relevant the ideas of socialism.
What better time, then, to donate to the society? To mark the anniversary, we are launching a “50 for 50” fund raising campaign. For those who can, please consider donating $50. We need this money to solidify the web presence of the journal, and to increase our capacity to help young scholars attend conference.
You will be issued a receipt automatically by PayPal. Please note that the SSS Charitable Registration number is 13990 6655 0001.
