Society for Socialist Studies Errol Sharpe Book Prize
As a tribute to the robust scholarship undertaken by its members and to recognize their publication achievements, the Society for Socialist Studies conducts an annual book prize for a significant contribution to socialist research in Canada.
The prize includes an award of $500 and will be presented at the annual meeting of the Society in the Spring of 2018 for a book published in 2017. Nominations (including self-nominations) are welcomed from any member of the Society.
Nominated books should be pro-socialist in approach, where “socialism” is very broadly conceived. The prize is for single or jointly authored original books, excluding edited collections, textbooks, and translations.
The authors should ask their publishers to supply four hard copies for the jury. If a publisher is not prepared to provide such books, these could come from its allotment of copies to an author and will be returned to the author by the jury.
In the case of books nominated by someone other than their authors, the nominator must have secured permission from an author for the nomination. E-mail addresses of an author should be included in a nomination.
Nominations should be sent to: James Lawson (lawsonj@uvic.ca) no later than March 15, 2018.
