Come to the Socialist Studies 50th Anniversary Banquet with comrades on May 31, 2017
The Society for Socialist Studies is 50 this year, and all socialists, friends, and fellow travellers at Congress are invited to mark the occasion at a special Society Banquet.
At the Banquet, we will take a moment to honour some of the people who have worked hard over the years to make this unique academic forum a reality. There will also, of course, be the usual good food, a cash bar, conversation and camaraderie.
You can choose between three different entrees at $45 a plate ($25 for students and low-waged). The doors open for us at 6:00 pm, and the place is ours for the evening.

Before I put my money down, how would I get there?
The venue is the Lula Lounge at Davenport, a familiar hangout of the Toronto left. It is at 1585 Dundas Street West, Toronto, Ontario M6J 1T9. From Ryerson, it is a short transit ride away: catch the 505 Dundas streetcar at the intersection of Dundas and Yonge St. near Ryerson, and go westbound towards Dundas St. West Station. As the streetcar name suggests, the whole ride is on Dundas Street, which runs east-west across downtown Toronto. Pull the yellow bell cord on the side of the car when Sheridan Avenue is called, and get off the streetcar at that stop (about 17 minutes away from Ryerson).
Then walk a little more along Dundas St. W. (about two minutes) to get to the venue. If you are coming from another part of town and need to change vehicles on your way, make sure you get a paper transfer at the start of your trip. It will be valid throughout the transit system – subway, streetcar, light rail, and bus – provided you do not wander when making your connections. Show the transfer to drivers or ticket collectors as you board each new vehicle or enter a station from a bus or streetcar that just passes the station by. Public transit is by far the cheapest option but you can always, of course, take a taxi.
See you for this 50th anniversary Banquet!
